Prof. Vroemans
Robby Vroemans obtained his PhD in Chemistry in 2019 at KU Leuven under the supervision of Prof. Wim Dehaen, supported by a scholarship from the Research Foundation - Flanders (FWO). His doctoral research focused on the study of naphthyltriazole atropisomers. Subsequently, he joined the University of Antwerp as a postdoctoral researcher in the group of Prof. Bert Maes, where he worked on lignin-derived plastic additives. Additionally, he conducted research stays with Prof. Thierry Ollevier at Université Laval (Quebec, Canada) in 2019, investigating enantioselective reactions using naphthyltriazole atropisomer ligands, and with Prof. Serge Bourbigot at Université de Lille (Lille, France) in 2024, focusing on flame retardant testing. He is currently an assistant professor (tenure track) in the ORSY division at the University of Antwerp. His research interests center on organic materials synthesis for sustainable chemistry. Prof. Vroemans teaches several courses in organic chemistry at both the Bachelor's and Master's levels.
Teaching
Prof. Vroemans teaches multiple courses at the Bachelor- and Master level in different study programmes.
Next to this, his group hosts students working on their Bachelor and Master thesis under supervision of a PhD student or postdoctoral researcher.
